Malena's Jardiniere

Goodmorning lovelies! This week's outfit was inspired by the movie Malena (2000), situated in the 1940s in Italy, starring Monica Bellucci. The photoshoot took place @ my grandmother's balcony, which is in full bloom this time of year, with a variety of beautiful flowers and small trees - yes, trees!

Back in the 1940s, whether it was a dress, cardigan, silk dressing gown or bodice, the padded or puffed shoulder was the dominant look. Originally made popular in the late 1930′s by Elsa Schiaparelli, it defined the look of the 1940′s woman. To save on shoe leather, peep toes and T-straps became fashionable. Handbags and pocketbooks were fashionable, as well.

Gloves were less essential to complete a woman's look than they had been in the 1930s, but remained a popular staple. Because trims could be expensive and short hair was hard to tie back at work, long locks were in style.

Gloves: Uterque // Earrings: Vildiridis (gift)

And here are some photos of my muse, Malena:
