Naomi Watts to play Lady Diana in movie biopic // Films

Should I predict an Academy Award nomination and (maybe) an award for Naomi?
Recent history says this might happen! For more than a decade, most actresses, who won the "Best Actress" Oscar, were playing a real-life character:

Julia Roberts as Erin Brockovich in Erin Brockovich (2001)
Nicole Kidman as Virginia Wolf in The Hours (2002)
Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos in Monster (2003)
Reese Witherspoon as June Carter in Walk the Line (2005)
Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen (2006)
Marion Cotillard as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (2007)
Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side (2009)

Also, two of this year's "Best Actress" Oscars nominees have played real-life characters: Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe in My week with Marilyn and Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. The odds say that one of them must be the winner of the precious statue.

The new film, titled Caught in Flight, will capture the last two years of Princess Diana's life and will be directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.

Naomi is a very talented actress (already nominated in 2004 for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 21 Grams, but lost over Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby) and she's definitely got the looks to play Lady Di. Of course, she is not as admired and worshiped as Diana, but neither was Michelle Williams and managed to pull it through beautifully with her "Marilyn" challenge and won herself an Oscar nomination!
