Greeks in Hollywood

Most of you know I am from Greece. Yes, we are in deep trouble the last couple of years and this seems that is not going to end soon... Some are angry, others are numb but most of us try to do our best to come out of this mess the soonest possible. This past week I happened to watch a couple of movies and TV series and just by coincidence I realized that we have so many famous Greeks in Hollywood! On the top of the list is Jennifer Aniston, from her father's side! If you don't know who that is... she played Rachel in Friends, she was married to Brad Pitt and had the haircut that caused a worldwide frenzy in the 90s!

Another one is the hilariously funny and very creative award winning lady Tina Fey, from her mother's side!

Also, the funniest of them all, the one and only, Zach Galifianakis! Yes, Zach is Greek from his father's side.

And some more...
Old Hollywood Hall of Fame: Melina Mercouri (Never on Sunday, Topkapi), John Cassavetes (Rosemary's Baby, The Dirty Dozen), Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck, Steel Magnolias)Yorgo Voyagis (Zorba the Greek, Jesus of Nazareth) and Telly Savalas (Kojak)

Award-winning Directors: Elia Kazan (A Streetcar Named Desire, East of Eden), Costa-Gavras (Z, Mad City, Amen), Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants), Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook)

Younger talents: Melina Kanakaredes (CSI New York), Billy Zane (Dead Calm, Titanic)Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Maria Menounos, Elias KoteasJohn Stamos, and many more!

So proud to be Greek!
