Paris Couture Week Spring 2020 // Zuhair Murad

Right after Dior's Greco-Roman inspired Couture collection, here comes Murad's inspired by Ancient Egypt and the Pharaohs! The pleats, the dramatic necklines, the accentuated golden details, the bright colors and the illusion of eagle (or Sphinx) wings on some of the dresses remind me of the unique Egyptian wall paintings from the pyramids. I should also give a memorable mention to Elizabeth Taylor's 24-carat golden cape as Cleopatra. Her wardrobe was epic and she had 65 costume changes, a record for a motion picture at the time (1963)!
