FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna // Review

Once I heard about the FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna launch, I knew I had to try them, especially the face makeup and lip products that were so hyped on Youtube and Instagram. When the concealer was announced couple of months ago with 50 shades, +10 more were added in the foundation range, I was convinced it was time for me to go to Sephora and buy them.

While I was trying to figure out the correct shades for me, the makeup artist at the Fenty counter was very helpful and we did some tryouts on my skin before deciding. Beware! Both the foundation and the concealer oxidize.

Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation #150
As I already mentioned, the foundation oxidizes, so you need to be very careful with the shade you choose. I suggest you visit a Sephora store to try it out and ask help from a makeup artist. The formula is thick and non-buildable, dries quickly, which means that you have to apply it the soonest possible. Just one pump is enough, at least for me and how I want my face to look; healthy and even, but not fully covered. I don't wear it with the Fenty Beauty Primer (you can read 'why' down below), instead I use more hydrating primers like Miracle Prep by Max Factor or Angel Veil by Nyx. I have tried 3 different ways of application: 1.with my Beauty Blender, 2. the Fenty Beauty foundation brush and 3. my fingers. In my opinion, the easiest application and most flawless result comes with the beauty sponge. The brush is OK, but leaves some patches that you still need the sponge to even them out. If applied with the fingers, it gets a bit messy, sticky and flaky and I wouldn't recommend it. It is long-lasting, around 6-8 hours with a little retouch on the T-zone, and has a very pleasant scent.  Last but not least, don't forget to shake it well before use!

Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer #200
One of the best concealers I have tried yet to this day! Whenever I am wearing it, I have a great makeup day with no dark circles under my eyes. It's my "go-to" concealer for photoshootings and long days (or nights) of meetings and events. However, I must use twice the amount of eye cream than usual, because its formula dries out the under-eye area and makes fine lines visible and huge. I always wear it with translucent setting powder so that it doesn't crease later in the day. I apply it either with my beauty sponge or with the Fenty Beauty concealer brush; both tools give brilliant results, so it's up to you to decide which one to use.

Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer
Well, all I can say about this product is that it does NOT work for me combined with the Fenty foundation. Maybe works better for younger or oilier skin types, but not for mine. It feels sticky, doesn't even out the pores and doesn't allow the foundation to blend evenly. I tried it twice with the Fenty foundation and looked so bad that I had to re-do my makeup... I will save it though to try it again when the weather gets warmer (aka my skin more oily) and will definitely try it with other, more hydrating/liquid foundations. It might work. I will keep you posted.

*UPDATE (20/7/2019): It's summer time, my skin is more oily and I already tried the primer in multiple occasions with the L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24h Fresh Wear Foundation, which has a very liquid and more buildable formula. The result is stunning and I am so happy it worked! It lasts very long, 5-6 hours, under heat and humidity, doesn't crease, doesn't flake. I am loving this combo and will keep wearing until both bottles are empty
