Antinous, "Hadrian and Athens. Conversing with an Ideal World"

One of the best and most well structured museums I have ever visited, the National Archaeological Museum (NAM), is one I highly recommend, if you are a tourist in Athens with very limited time and you can only visit one location. Also, if you are a local, you must go asap, like... yesterday! If you are a student, a teacher, an Ancient Greece lover, a museum lover, if you are fond of ancient history, artifacts and all kinds of antiquities, you have to visit NAM at least once in your lifetime.

Situated in the heart of Athens (see directions and ticket info here), it is a large museum, with many Collections (Prehistoric, Sculpture, Metalwork, Jewelry, Vases and Minor Arts) with Permanent Exhibitions from the Archaic, Hellenistic and Roman periods, but also Egyptian and Cypriot Antiquities. There are also two (2) Temporary Exhibitions at the moment, which were my favorite part of my visit at the NAM and that I absolutely recommend you should experience too: The Countless Aspects of Beauty (available until December 31st 2019) and Hadrian and Athens. Conversing with an Ideal World (available until 29th November 2019)

Both exhibitions mentioned above have special installations within the premises of NAM that stand out while at the same time help them blend in with the rest of the artifacts.

A low profile but very important Museum, NAM is a pleasant surprise!
