Dior Cruise 2022, Erechtheion, Acropolis, Athens, Greece |
The latest Resort (Cruise) collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, was inspired by Ancient Greece and the fashion show actually took place here, in Athens, in Kallimarmaro Stadium on my birthday, June 17th this year. I could actually hear the firecrackers at the finale from my apartment!
*You can watch the entire show on Dior's YouTube channel, here
Since that day, there have been many photoshootings and film makings around Greece, mainly by female photographers through the "Empowering Women" movement that
Chiuri has been promoting many years now; from
Milos island and the Temple of Poseidon in cape
Sounio (you can watch the captivating video from these locations '
From Dior to Greece' here), to Ancient Corinth and the Temple of
Zeus in
Nemea, and last, but not least, to
Herodion and the
Acropolis in Athens, which also marks the initial inspiration of the iconic Dior photoshoot back in 1951, exactly 70 years ago!

Apart from the breathtaking locations, there have been several studio photoshootings for the Dior shoes, bags, jewelry and accessories, also inspired by the Ancient Greek mythology and art.

'Female Divine' is the atmospheric campaign video, directed by
Fabien Baron. An ancient temple provides the enigmatic setting for dancers and models to enact a modern and sensual interpretation of the myth of
Arachne to the hypnotic music and vocals of Greek composer and artist
Ioanna Gika. You can watch the entire 2-minute video
here.
The lunar-like scenery of Sarakiniko Beach on the island of Milos served as the perfect backdrop for this Dior Cruise 2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The temple of Zeus in Nemea, Ancient Corinth, formed the ideal scenery for photographer Julia Hetta to create mysterious and ethereal images that highlighted the eternal allure of ancient Greece and how it's been interpreted in contemporary silhouettes in marble-like white by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The very last photoshoot that was released and my personal favorite was the one from the Acropolis! Photographer
Ria Mort captured
Chiuri's vision and paid tribute to the iconic
Dior photoshooting by
Jean-Pierre Pedrazzini for
Paris Match 70 years ago on the exact same location.

I am very happy, proud and excited that the iconic Fashion House of Dior is back in Greece 70 years later and paying tribute to its heritage and classic beauty. And as Maria Grazia Chiuri said, "Greece is sacred. And it's a heritage for everybody, for the whole world".
Thank you Maria. Thank you Dior.
